In October 2003 Mr T. J. Mokaloba registered a company known as Materials Testing Laboratory (Pty) Ltd – MATLAB as a Civil Engineering Materials Laboratory providing quality laboratory services to Government Ministries, Consulting firms, Architects, Civil Engineering Contractors, Quantity Surveyors, International Consulting Engineering and Construction firms, etc., in Lesotho. Mr T. J. Mokaloba successfully managed this laboratory for five years up to October 2008 when he registered another company known as Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory (Pty) Ltd – GEL. In August 2017 Mr Mokaloba registered another laboratory called Civil Engineering Laboratory (Pty) Ltd – CEL in view of broadening the scope of testing without confining it to geotechnical investigations only.
CEL is a 100 % black-owned company. When working in the field, the company augments its core team with labour and temporary staff from the surrounding villages. The approach underpins its commitment to on-going community upliftment and skills transfer.
